Wi-fi buses used to deliver the web to remote villages

30/03/07 – Isolated villages in developing countries are receiving the internet via buses fitted with wi-fi. It is part of the United Villages project and as part of it villagers can request specific information to keep up to date with the outside world.

Adverts withdrawn from Facebook

03/08/07 - Vodafone and First Direct bank have removed their adverts from social networking site Facebook. It follows the adverts appearing close to content that was uploaded by the British National Party(BNP).

New generator powered by vibrations developed.

9/07/07 – Scientists at the University of Southampton have developed a generator that is powered by natural vibrations and cold be used for heart pacemakers. It has been created as part of a project to develop a source of power for devices where it is difficult to replace batteries in them.
