Latest Microsoft security updates released

14/06/07 - Microsoft has issued six new security updates as part of its monthly patch distribution. The updates fix issues with Windows (including Vista), Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and Windows Mail
The update fixes 15 flaws in these programs and four out of the six patches in the update are listed as 'critical', the most urgent that the company provides.

They fix weaknesses in the program that if exploited could allow somebody to take control of the application to alter and delete data.

All Windows users, including those with Vista, are urged to apply the update immediately.

Microsoft release monthly updates on the second Tuesday of every month and windows users can set their systems to automatically upload them for increased protection.

Ban on new internet cafes in china for rest of this year

07/03/2006 - An order from the Chinese government has forbidden any new internet cafes from opening this year. The ban is made through a government order that has been obtained by the state news agency Xinhua.

Copying CDs to be made legal?

Copying music from a CD to a home computer could be made legal according to new government proposals up for public consultation on 8 April. Millions of listeners already "rip" music to their computers and transfer the files to MP3 players, although the process is technically against copyright law. But the Intellectual Property Minister Lord Triesman claimed the law should be changed to "keeps up with the times".

VoIP provider cuts the cost of Mother's Day

12/03/2007 – The internet telephone provider Tpad has cut its charges for calls to anywhere in the world for Mother's Day. Anybody who uses the VoIP provider will receive 50% off their call charges for the 18 March, Mothering Sunday, irrespective of where in the world they call.
