Housing information website reaches half a million hits

13/03/2007 - A website that provides information for young people about housing has received over 500,000 'hits' since it was launched. The mypagegateshead.co.uk website provides information that 16 to 24 year olds will need when they move into their own home for the first time.
The site, which was launched at the end of 2006, was created by The Gateshead Housing Company (GHC) with the input of young people from across the borough.

Subjects covered on the site include leaving home, finances, renting a property and buying a home. It also contains information on GHC's HomeChoice lettings scheme.

The page was launched following the publication of Gateshead Council's Children and Young People's Plan in 2006.

It was revealed in the document that housing was one of young people's top priorities in the Gateshead area.

Bill Fullen, Chief Executive of the GHC said: "The website provides advice, information and guidance about housing services, rights, responsibilities and provides further contacts where people can get further help from.

"We are delighted that so many young people in and out of Gateshead have already found the site so useful and appealing. And we look forward to even more visits from young people as the site develops," he continued.
