Hackers target the UN

13/08/07 – Sections of the United Nations homepage have been taken offline following an attack by hackers. The page that is reserved for comments made by the Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, were vandalised with writing blaming the US and Israel for the deaths of children.
In the attack that the perpetrators referred to as a "cyberprotest", numerous other parts of the UN site were affected.

The attackers believed to be behind the attack have carried out other protests and claim to be "Turkish defacers".

Using the hacker names "kerem125", "Gsy" and "M0sted" the protestors left the following message: "Hey Ysrail and Usa dont kill children and other people Peace for ever No war."

Even though some pages were shut down they were soon restored unmolested to the site later on.
