Apple forces rumour website to shut down

Following a legal battle with Apple that had run for nearly three years the website Think Secret will be shut down. The site had gained a reputation for revealing new Apple products before their official unveiling date.
Apple began legal proceedings against the website in January 2005 when the it revealed details of the Mac Mini before it was officially launched.

The lawsuit was brought against the site by the hardware giants in order to force it to reveal the identity of the person who had leaked details of the cut-down computer.

The agreement that Think Secret has made with Apple to shut down allows it to preserve the anonymity of its sources.

Think Secret's publisher, Nick Ciarelli, said in a statement: "I'm pleased to have reached this amicable settlement, and will now be able to move forward with my college studies and broader journalistic pursuits."

Apple has released no details about the settlement but a spokesman said that the company was "happy to have this behind us."
