Domain name problems

I already have a domain name administered by @ukplc. http://www.mtrc.org.uk
My hosting account with you also has this domain name (I had to give it to get account)
however this obviously can't work yet as my domain name still redirects to my current site which is hosted on my trial account with you.
In order to associate the domain name with my new host space I think I have to enter your name server addresses (as found on domain set up page) in the administrators records instead of what is currently there. could you confirm this please.
Is this all I have to do? will emails work or do I need to change something else as well?
Also I have uploaded my site using my own ftp software to the ip address also got from the A records list. Using your ftp client I have confirmed the info is there ok.
However when I use my browser to access the site using the ip address (I cant use the domain name yet) I still get the holding page and trying to access individual pages results in page not found. Why does this not work?
Also clicking on the stats or log links on the control pannel results in page not found. - Posted on Friday, 11th May 2007 at 3:37pm

Thanks for your speedy reply, I can certainly do as suggested. however if I view the ip address you quoted in by browser I still see a holding page despite having replaced it with my own index.html page along with the rest of the site. If I xfer my domain now then my site will dissappear and become a holding page - or am I being thick and not understanding something?
My ftp program does seem to work ok to that ip address but my browser dosn't.
In addition to the www A record, would they not have to change the ftp A record as well or is this not required as it's the same ip address anyway. What about webmail, @, manager etc.
What about the name server addresses in my current administrator - do I leave them as the are or change them to dns1.hosted.netline.net.uk & dns2.etc.
I still get page not found if I try to access stats or logs from my control pannell, could you fix this please.
As domain transfer must be relatively common it would be nice if you had a step by step idiots guide of things to do & check for customers such as myself who don't fully understand how the internet works. I apologise if you already have one but if so I certainly couldn't find it.

Thanks again, I think I am ok with the xfer now.
However before I do it I want to know the site is working. Despite having uploaded my files and replacing the holding page index.html with my own, I still only get a holding page when I view the ip address I will be directing everyone to
Is the site faulty or am I doing something wrong? - Posted on Monday, 14th May 2007 at 11:32am

- The reason you can't see you webpage when you search by IP address is because you don't have 1 specific to your domain. The IP adress you are entering belongs to the server you reside on, but so do other domains and that it why it's not unique.
