Image spaces

Have set up my web page http://www.dog-house.org.uk and every time I amend the page through the online system the spaces I have between the images keep being shown as a question mark.Works
okay if I use at FTP client to upload only seem to happen when I use the supanet online option

Hi

Did you ever get this sorted? Are your pictures showing up now? My website just has loads of question marks as well. I have uploaded all of my gifs but I'm not too sure if I have put them in the right place. Please help!

no still waiting for answer ,I space my pictures out with the   command .Works fine on desktop but everytime I use the online editor whenever I change something it just blanks out the
command and leaves spaces which then shows up as ? on the web-pager. Does any one know if there is another HTML command for a space other then

I have looked into this problem with non-blanking space being replaced with
a '?' mark. As far as I can tell the problem is related to the 'edit'
function within the FTP utility. I haven't been able to duplicate your problem
can you confirm this.

There is not another simple way to replace this functionality, the ' '
'named entity' is a device for inserting an ascii character 160 into the output
rather than the normal space character (ascii character 32). HTML replaces
multiple ordinary space characters (32) with one space, which where you are
trying to modify the layout of display is probably not what you want.

The FTP edit function isn't supported directly by us, it is an open source
product, we merely include a link to it.

Whenever I develope a web site I create the whole web site so it works locally
on my home computer and then, finally, upload the whole set of files to the
web site where I then retest it all. I know this may not be particularly
helpful. Working on a local copy has many advantages.

One reason for doing this might be that you are then free to use a good
editor for developing your html, php etc. A free editor I just looked at
recently is called PSPad available at http://www.pspad.com . The tactic then is to
then only make changes to files on your own machine, test locally, upload and
test again on the live website. Some ftp products are clever enough to only
upload the files which are newer that the target files (a good ftp product
is Cute FTP). I hope this helps.
