I've now re-created my web pages in Dreamweaver and managed to upload all the files to my webspace. I created a directory to place the files in. However when typing in the url of my site all I get is the parent directory page - clicking on that then displays all the files. My web address is
http://www.gowerseafishing.co.uk.
Can you advise where I have gone wrong please? I have read the Q & A section for common problems and tried renaming my home page but this made no difference.
Many thank.

The reason your site is not working is because all your files are in the subdirectory you created. It is fine if you want to organise your files into different directories, however your homepage/index page cannot be located where it currently resides. When you enter your domain into a web browser it searches for a file called index.html or home.html etc... within the root '/' directory it would not think to check in the subdirectory.
To fix this problem you either need to remove the subdirectory and have all your files in the parent directory or move your home/index page into the parent directory, the other files can stay in the sub-directory. However, if you move the index page into the parent directory you will have to change every path name that links to a file as they need to know to look for the file in the subdirectory.
e.g. A link from your homepage to a file in your subdirectory.
