Hi

I have created a forum and am having trouble getting validation emails to send. I have tried putting the smtp server address for my domain (mail.mydomain.org)in but it doesn't work.

I would appreciate advice on how to configure this.

Thanks

If you send us your domain we will have a look at this for you. However, we can't guarantee anything as the forum you are using was not developed by us.

Try putting the smtp server address as localhost.mydomain.org, that should solve your problem. :D

Please can you also ensure that you limit the number of possible recipients. If you don't, it's possible for spammers to send large quantities of mail.

If this happens we have to suspend the account until it is secured.

Thank you

Hi

I tried putting localhost.dalbeattiehardrockchallenge.org but still not getting emails to go out. I am using Mercuryboard so will try posting in their forum to see if I can get any further.

As an afterthought, there was nowhere to include any username/password to send these emails. Would the server allow this to process given that the forum is hosted on this domain?

Cheers

My apologies, all you needed was localhost not localhost.dalbeattiehardrockchallenge.org.

Sorry again for the inconvinience.

Still can't get this to work. Will your servers send unauthenticated emails ok?

I'll check with Mercuryboard for known issues.

Cheers

I've changed the forum type to phpbb which obviously works!

Hopefully I'll be able to configure this correctly.

To anyone who is interested.

I switched forums from Mercuryboard to phpBB. I created a new email account at https://admin.supanethosting.com/ in order to send validation emails.

I used these details including the username and password to configure the smtp settings in the phpBB configuration panel with the smtp server set to smtp.yourdomain.com
