About email Addresses
An email address contains two parts. The first part is a name that is free for you to choose, the second part of an email address is the name of the domain where your email account is hosted.
For example the email address for Pulse Web Hosting's support department.
support@pulsewebhosting.com
In this example 'support' is the first part and 'pulsewebhosting.com' is the second part of the email address. Every email address contains an '@' symbol which separates the two parts of an email address.
email accounts with Hosting packages
If you receive an email account as part of a hosting package then the second half of your email address will already be set. It will be same as the domain name that you've chosen for your hosting account.
So for example if you purchase a hosting package and chose 'example.com' as your domain name the second part of your email address would be '@pulsewebhosting.com'.
The first part of your email address can be anything you wish. Although picking something that is relevant or memorable is advisable.
You can not have spaces in this part of your email address so if you want to have more than one word you will have to use a dot [.] or an underscore [_] to fill the space.
For example if you wanted the first part of your email address to be john smith it would have to be:
john.smith or john_smith
This would make your email address
john.smith@pulsewebhosting.com or john_smith@pulsewebhosting.com
Just email accounts
If you purchase a Just email account then you need to choose both parts of your email address. As always the first part of your email address is free for you to pick whichever you believe is the most relevant.
For example if you wanted it to be john smith you could use either
john_smith or john.smith
You will need to pick the second part of your email address. This process is the same as picking a domain in a hosting package.
This part is made up of a single word, which is entirely your choice, and then an ending such as .com, .co.uk or .org etc.
Pulse Web Hosting allows you to choose the from following for your ending
co.uk
.org.uk
.me.uk
.com
.net
.info
.org
.biz
.name
You can match any word you want with any of these endings so long as that particular combination has not already been registered as an email address. If the combination you want is already taken you will have to choose another end part.
For example if you wanted to have;
@pulsewebhosting.com
But it was already of taken you may have to choose something else, such as;
@pulsewebhosting.co.uk
email aliases
With Pulse Web Hosting you can set up an unlimited number of email aliases on your email account.
So you could set up five different email addresses, such as;
john.smith@pulsewebhosting.com
wendy.smith@pulsewebhosting.com
enquiries@pulsewebhosting.com
contribute@pulsewebhosting.com
example@pulsewebhosting.com
All of these addresses can be managed by you and all mail received through your Pulse Web Hosting email account.
